Finally Pictures on the Walls

I posted the previous post just minutes after midnight and so it seems that I’ve missed the 18th. And I am writing this also past midnight. I have to change habits and write in the mornings. This way if there’s a delay it’ll still be in the same day!

Today we  completed what we had planned for redecorating our house. The last step was hanging the frames on the wall. The three years that we have lived here we didn’t have a single frame on the wall. But finally we both liked these illustrations by Charley Harper. Specially now that we are watching Mad Men (+) we thought they are a good choice.

By the way, we used 3M picture hanging strips and they are really great. You attach one strip to the wall and one to the frame . They are almost like Velcro so the two sides will stick together firmly but can also be taken apart whenever you want to change the picture. Best of all there’s no need to make a hole in the walls which is perfect for rental houses like ours.

Redecoration not accomplished

I am getting close to missing day two in my One Post a Day promise. That’s because up untill now we were trying to plan, buy and set up furniture for our livingroom. We have lived here for three years now and we will be here probably for at least two more years. So we thought we should do a redecoration. But whatever we thought of, couldn’t be done in our small and more importantly rental house. The one item we were both frustrated about was the large TV. Not large in diameter but thickness. It was occupying a good portion of the space. And we don’t even watch TV that much. So we decided to replace it with a new bookcase(good choice, ha?) matching the one we had already. We also wanted to buy a small desk for my husband and the new computer we may want to buy (more on that  in another post). But when we were there everything went wrong. The desk was out of  stock in the color we prefered. We couldnt’ find the next best choice. The bookcase seemed too large to fit in the car, but we did it finally (after a badly broken nail). Came home. Set up the cables. Set up the desk. So far so good. And now the bookcase. Oh nooooooooo. Why is it one level higher than the previous one? Apparently Ikea has two versions of this bookcase and we bought the wrong one. So redecoration is not done yet, and no pictures for you yet :(

My corner

What better way to overcome sadness than to go shopping? But I didn’t buy dresses or bags or shoes. Instead I bought a desk, and I think it was a good choice.

Now I have my own corner. We have a spare room in the house but  it’s often used as a guest room. So I put the desk in the bedroom. Now I can have my own space even if we have guests over.
