Tehran Pomegranates

With the new semester comes the usual activities for the Persian community. We have the Thursday Persian Tables, which is virtually free lunch. There is also reading Mantiq Al-Tayr on Sundays. Every other week we also have a poetry night and then a movie screening.

The poetry night consists of me and another couple plus the organizer who I suppose has to attend. What we do is to search the internet for some poems at the last minute and read them for the other 3. After the gathering tonight I am looking for ways to make it more interesting at least for myself. If it doesn’t work I won’t go anymore.

The movie was good though, worth watching. It was, Tehran Has No More Pomegranates. It was a documentary-comedy movie about the past and present of Tehran. It had a nice satirical view of Tehran. Although like most other films in Iran you feel the director has just spent one afternoon gathering the material but the idea was nice and I liked it.
