\nA while ago my friend was talking about her Japanese history class and the book she was reading concerning her interest in Japanese. I couldn\u2019t remember the book name after that, but when I saw the ad for the new film Memoirs of a Geisha (film<\/a>, book<\/a>) I knew that was it. So I got really interested in reading the book and asked my friend to lend me the book. I read it in 3 days. It was a good book overall. It starts when Chiyo the little girl from a poor family along with her sister is taken from her parents. I didn\u2019t know who a geisha is. So I shared the sense of uncertainty that she felt and it made me read and read until I found out that she was sold to a house to be trained to become a sort of entertainer. That is what geisha are. They learn how to dance and how to do the tea ceremony and entertain in parties.
\nThe book explains a lot about different stages a geisha goes through. As I read the book I also searched some of the terms mentioned in the book, like momoware<\/a>, the hairstyle for apprentice geisha,
\nor geisha dance<\/a>.
